Trinity College DVD
1.
Trinity
College was founded in 1872. It counts over 136 years of devoted and
distinguished service to the nation. Trinity was preceded by another school, the
Kandy Collegiate School which was founded in 1857. Trinity's 150th
year was celebrated with a Thanksgiving Service on the 14th October
2007. There was also a special School Assembly on the 16th October
2007.
The
Trinity collegiate Old Boys Association was inaugurated in 1893. The
Inauguration Service took place at Christ Church Galle Face and had the
Principal Rev John Napier- Clavering in the chair. In 1908, the Colombo Branch
of the Trinity College Old Boys Association was formed and celebrated its
Centenary in 2008. It is in the light of this happy and momentous occasion this
DVD is being launched. It contains endearing music & song all Trinitian's
hold dear:
·
The
School Song
·
'Trinity
Blazer' - a song that has its
origin in the mists of time
·
Two
Hymns that are known by all Trinitians,
past and present
These
treasures that hail from the 'Best School of All' and have been sung lustily by
generations of Trinitians of all ages, colour and creed at any and every type of
gathering. School Functions, School Matches, official OBA meetings or even when
Trinitians gather for a private party.
Founded
by Anglican Missionaries, Trinity has boasted of a rich choral tradition, The
TCK Choir was selected from Ceylon to participate along with selected school
choirs from all over the Commonwealth and the 'Empire' (which was partly
intact), for an exclusive Radio Broadcast from the BBC. This was in celebration
of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. It is therefore fitting that
the TCK OBA (Colombo Branch), launch this choral tribute as part of its
Centenary Celebrations.
